I know everyone who is halfway intelligent knows we are subject to monitoring etc., especially when on the a company LAN (or VPN). I was just doing a routine check on the laptop here, and it seems in that recent code drop (hidden with either the search solutions install or the PC methodology 1.4 install it would seem, so that should give you the approximate date), that put a nice little present here resident on the laptop.
I don't want to break any rules, or attract any undue attention to myself, so I won't get too specific, but www.vericept.com might give you enough of a clue to go on.
A further clue is that it has been renamed as an innocuous looking audio recording tool.
One thing this thing has the ability to do, and I quote from their site "identify Internet abuse, HR violations and provides early warning of potential employee resignations." This along with monitoring "all IP traffic".
Like I said, no surprise (the previous tools were pretty simple logging tools, that weren't really a threat when not on VPN, and every company increasingly has to do this), but this one looks pretty potent, so play safe out there. |

We all know as consultants that vendor software usually comes out of the box with some very poor reporting capabilities. In addition, we also know that BE won't invest in a customized reporting capability, therefore below please find my contribution. A draft template to be used for Network Abuse Reporting.
