I am a "functional" guy on IT projects, and almost 100% of the time I am the last person to roll off a project once the system is implemented. So I am busy for the first month doing requirements, then I have little to do except review design docs to make sure things are meeting my reqs. Then I am busy during testing. And then nothing to do while I do supposedly provide "end user support."
BE doesn't care - they are charging me out. Is it good for my career - probably not. I've been a senior consultant now for 5 1/2 years (almost 7 if you consider the fact that I was a senior consultant for a year and a half when I left Andersen Consulting all those years ago). |

You haven't had a promotion in that long? That's insane. I thought if you were in the same title for 3 years you were "stalled"...
