Back on topic... I agree that not getting bonuses the past few years suck. No arguement there. I also agree that any promotion should also be accompanied by extra compensation.
But, not everyone gets screwed on raises...
I have worked my butt off since I got hired and have increased my salary significantly since then.
It wasn't always easy..sometimes I got the 3 %, sometimes 0%, but also have received double digit raises as well. You have to go to bat for yourself and get your managers to go to bat for you. The key is being able to back it up with your deliverables and not being afraid to stand up for yourself.
FWIW, this review period I recieved a 8% raise.
I know of at least one guy in my group that got a double digit raise and I heard the firm average was around 4%, in line with the industry average.

Only an 8% Raise, you should get the advice from the guy who got a double digit raise and post that.
