In Reply To: I am interviewing with BE soon for SMA. I have 4.5 yrs of exp at a leading consulting company. What does it take to move from SMA to consultant? Anything I can prove at the interview? Appreciate your responses.
Message: In some practices, Senior MAs overlap heavily with Consultants. The major difference is bill rate, as a Consultant has much more overhead incorporated in their bill rate. Good for T&M projects, bad for Fixed Price deals. In other practices, Consultant is a HUGE leap from Senior MA. Kind of like the difference between enlisted and officers in the military. Personally, unless you're under 25, I wouldn't take a position as any kind of Analyst.
