In Reply To: I am not actively seeking bench time or anything. Ideally, my MD would have something lined up for me (and let me know about it) and I could start right after this project ends. My concern has been growing because I have no clue where I??ll be working in a few days and haven??t heard anything from my MD. So, is the plan is to sit tight after this project ends and wait for him to place me?? One more question: I started with BE fresh out of college about 6 months ago. I received an EE from my PM/Engagement manager on my review. I was holding onto some slight hope that I could receive a promotion/raise this time around??but seeing as that probably wont happen now??will I have to wait until the next year-end review to receive anything?? I??ve heard a few different things about the mid-year review??i.e.: no promotions or raises, or raises only if promoted.
Message: Guinness9, you should really speak to your performance manager, assuming you have someone assigned to you other than your MD. Typically, the PM is required to be on weekly staffing calls to discuss upcoming openings on projects throughout your practice. The PM will be better able to staff you if he/she is familiar with you, your skill set, and your interests for your next project. Quite frankly, most of our MDs have bigger fish to fry than dealing with staffing a person on a project. As for promotions, the trend has been promotions at both the year end and interim review (6-month cycles). No raises mid-year, unless promoted. I wouldn't expect to receive a promotion solely based on an EE rating on one project. You need to consistently demonstrate performance at the next level before being promoted...just my experience here. Hope this helps.
