In Reply To: Our competitors globally have the same retention issues ...it really is that high ..but as post below states its not all bad news as we need a whole new culture here with much better leverage ..it reflects the type of work that we do now regardless of the intent to re-invigorate MC as part of the business. Whilst i'm not naive to potential threats and challenges I also believe that a corrosive negative attitude gets people nowhere in their careers ..if you don't like it then leave ..if you have already left then fine, stop polluting the message board with speculative propoganda - or provide facts that demonstrate and support your arguments.
Message: The corrosive negative attitude is comming all the way from the top. Egotisim and elitisim abounds in BE. The lower you are in the food chain the less important you are. This makes no sence as consultants and sr. consultants are the bulk of the revenue generation. BDM's, Managers, Sr Managers, and MD's treat these people with zero respect and use them as pawns in their own little political struggle. If you're not prepared to be used as a plaything by your manager don't expect to be moving onwards. Furthermore, the continuing lack of raises and bonuses that are handed out to this level has pushed the negative attitude further down. Meanwhile, all the higher levels are drawing bonuses and patting themselves on the back. You mention Management Consulting. In my five years at BE I never knew anyone to be on a project that provided real management consulting. BE has always been an integrator/soloutions developer. There was the odd project that required some biz analysis work, but I wouldn't constitute that as real Management Consulting. You also mention 'new blood' going into BE. In my last two years there, I saw NUMEROUS cases where people left within a year on their own accord. Many of them were fresh kids out of Univeristy. They were completely disenchanged by all the bunk, spin and bullshit that resides within BE. Others left after sitting on the bench for two months and then being put on a gig that didn't fit their skill set or what they wanted to do. I used to be a big flag waver at BE. I just wanted to do my thing on the engagements. After years of being beaten down, being ignored, working OT (usually for no good reason other than the whim of the manager), never reciving adiquate compensation for what was being given to the firm, I decided to leave. How can anyone say that it's the MA/Consultants/Sr. Consultants fault for the attitudes there. The upper echelon is taking everything and not giving anything to the real people that generate revenue for the firm. Managers, Sr. Managers, MD's, BDMs are all getting fat bonuses and 'retention' incentives. All the peons get is a $200 cheque and a crappy BE pin with "I LUV U" engraved on the back. BDMS and MD's and Sr. Managers blow more than $200 for lunch on their expence accounts. Like I said, the poison comes from the top, and goes all the way down. This is your factual evidence. Denying it means ignoring it.
