It boils down to whether you trust your MD - will he keep his word to give you the raise and promotion in March?
As you probably know there have been several instances in the past of broken promises: "We have been told there will be no interim raises"; "My hands are tied"; "I went to bat for you but...". The list goes on...
It is tough but if you could get your MD to put his promises in writing then you can rest easy.
Having said all that it boils down to your priorities: are you working on a good project where you are learning and satisfied? How badly do you need this raise now? If you are working on good stuff you will be able to find another job down the road and get that raise later. |

a couple of grand isn't make or break. decide if you trust your PM and MD - that makes sense. If you like the work and people, stay, if not leave - but big 5 consulting firms are pretty consistent in terms of lifestyle, comp, etc. I would never consider a lateral to consulting unless I had a major internal problem or > 25% bump
