thanks. i know bear isn't a premier wall street firm but i thought they had at least a solid reputation.
i have another question. the position at bear asset management is in the private fund group, esentially fund of private equity funds. this is definitely an area that i have interest in getting into in the future but would it be better at this stage to do a couple of years at an ibank and then cross over? i have a couple of offers from ibanks and i am thinking that this might be the best option.
i am worried that if i start off in such a narrow area then my career prospects are very narrow should i either dislike the job or find it is not for me and want to get into something else.
any help would be most appreciated |

Yeah don't worry dude. Bear is a good firm. the person who responded before was probably some disgruntled ex-employee. Bear is the ultimate meritocracy. You either sink or swim. You'll be fine. AM is not the strongest part of the firm like prime, IBD, and fixed income but it's still bulge bracket (barely).
