In Reply To: this is a weird question to ask here, and I didn't go for banking (although took looks at it) so take my info w/ gr. of salt etc., but anyway... 1. generally speaking, most salient diffs are more hours, more task juggling (multiple deals at once in IB vs. single projects in consulting), often relatively rapid industry specialization, less travel if you're lucky, mentality is also not the same (you think very differently when trying to execute a deal vs. the regular consulting work) plus many other differences, suggest you go get vault IB guide 2. not really that important and depends on the banker. will get you interviews, and if you have spikes in particular industries may make you more valuable, but they still gotta like you. 3. hmm, dunno. after just 2 year BA program people get in as senior analysts usually (with fast-track promote chances to associate), dunno if in your case they'd take you on as post-mba associate... 4. in short: more. bonuses vary depending on year though. 5. What do you mean? if you want to go to PE later and get asked by the banks, don't give it away. They don't want to train you just to see you jump ship. If you mean chances of transitioning from M&A to their fin. sponsors or prop rietary investments divisions, possible but far from guaranteed. would not bring that up in interviews either... hope that helps. don't know your details but from my friends in banking one thing is clear, grass is not greener on the other side
