Very good FAQ. I reviewed the Business Week link; very informative. It's amazing how concentrated recruiting is... it really happens at only a few schools.
Only prob w/ the BW link is that it doesn't list Stanford and HBS. And we know that McKinsey is one of the "3-Ms" at HBS: military, Mormons, and McKinsey. McKinsey hired far more than 359 associates in 2004--I'd put the figure at closer to 600. (Consider that Bain hires 600 people/yr and is 1/3 the size of McKinsey.) Although the BW list is informative, I think it's a bit incomplete.

good ones, although the most FAQ gotta be:
Q: my background is XYZ, should I apply?
A: yes (nobody can tell you for sure you can't get in, low cost of trying vs. high potential reward, so go for it already...)
and the corollary:
Q: What are my chances?
A: between 0.00 and 1.00 (although asking these questions hints at:
- lack of capacity to perform even basic research
- laziness
- insecurity
- lack of networking skills that you need to ask that here
- inability to frame a dumb question so it sounds smart (really important for consultants :-) )
and kinda makes me think you won't make it...)
disclaimer: above half-written in jest etc. etc. not intending to be mean on anyone here...
