I'm grateful for your replies and encouragement. I didn't mean to imply that I am not enthusiastic about consulting! I think consulting is a very challenging and exciting job, and I truly hope I will be able to succeed as a consultant.
But I guess I had the impression that most people will get multiple offers from M/B/B (since the recruiting processes are pretty similar), and so I was really starting to wonder if my performance at the Bain interviews was a fluke.
And furthermore, the feedback from M/B really shocked me because it made me think that I lack the analytical ability or business sense to succeed as a consultant. I mean partners with so many years of experience should be able to tell right?? That's why I started questioning the Bain recruiting process!
P/s: Thanks again for replying :) I guess I'm being so cautious about going into consulting because it will be my first job out of college and I am not very sure what to expect. |

Could it be your blatant self-reflective honesty?
I'm not a consultant, yet, but I would think that objectivity is top on the list of important characteristics. Again, this is in an ideal world.
If you really feel consulting sin't for you, you certainly seem to have the fore-thought and discipline to turn down such a tantalizing offer, and I applaud your sense of judgement for it. On the other hand, maybe you are just needlessly worried about something, and you should just get your hands dirty to find out if your fears are over-rated.
