Am considering a career change with Ameriprise. Would someone with experience with AMP share some insights of being an advisor at the company? Also (being new to the industry) can some explain gross dealer concession and explain it in the context at AMP? What products does AMP try to 'push' more than others? Are there quotas? What are reasonable compensation expectations in the first several years?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated! |

My experience with Ameriprise is that very few people are making any money and the company is very cheap (no support, no supplies, shared computers, and treat you like crap). If you are fresh out of college and need some work experience and no one else will hire you (or you have a bad compliance record - they do take almost anyone - check www.nasd.org), it's okay for a short time, but expect to get used and treated like a little kid. Managers are young and only teach you how to memorize scripts and they can't help you with any complex financial issues.
