In Reply To: Am considering a career change with Ameriprise. Would someone with experience with AMP share some insights of being an advisor at the company? Also (being new to the industry) can some explain gross dealer concession and explain it in the context at AMP? What products does AMP try to 'push' more than others? Are there quotas? What are reasonable compensation expectations in the first several years? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!
Message: I would strongy suggest to look into any other financial firm then Ameriprise. I have worked for both Edward Jones and Morgan Stanley in the past. I was contacted by Ameriprise while I was at MS; so I thought I would atleast go to an information session to see what they would offer. I was floored when the field vice president (person doing the presentation) showed up in jeans and a john deer cap. Its funny to hear others on hear say that they were quoted to possibly make 6 figures in the first year- they told me the same thing. No offense to any young FA's, but the majority of Ameriprise FA's are right out of college- enough said. There is a reason American Express got rid of Amerprise Financial. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
