How can I get a good internship? |

I graduated with a marketing degree in August 2000. Since then, I've worked several customer service jobs that don't require anything more than a high school diploma. Everywhere I apply, employers seem to want young people with the expertise and experience of someone who's been in the industry for 3+ years. Forget about the college credentials! What if you're new in the real world? Wouldn't an internship be the next logical step for someone with a bachelor's degree? If that is the case, how do we find employers willing to accept internships? Am I too late? Do you have to still be in college to be eligible for an internship program at a reputable company? At this point in my life, I'm willing to work for free if there's potential for a successful, redeeming career.
Thanks.
