Thanks for your insight.
When I "rewrote" the press releases, I notified my boss that I was going to redo the whole thing. I don't think she was paying much attention because when I showed her the rewrite, she said it was fine and approved it.
But after I quit, I called her up to see if I could use what I wrote as a writing sample for a job interview and she responded with "but you didn't write it, did you?" I offered to show her the original and the rewrite and she just said curtly, "fine, you can come pick it up". The original and my copy are all saved on her hard drive. There's no reason she couldn't look at it and see very obviously that I rewrote the whole thing from scratch.
I have also sent her my resume and asked her to review the contents. I have heard no response from her so I assume everything is fine. Or maybe no response means that things aren't fine?
Anyways, thanks for your advice. It is much appreciated. |

The combination of 2 curt replies and no response to your resume would lead me to conclude that everything isn't fine. If you rewrote the whole thing and she approved it, she knows very well what you did. So, her subsequent statement that you didn't write it demonstrates a lack of integrity that could result in equally inaccurate statements to your potential employers in the future. I would avoid listing her as a reference unless absolutely necessary.
