I was wondering if anyone could help me out. For the people who work in an agency how did you get your first break? How many places did you interview with to get that first ad job? What's the best way to go about getting a job in account services. If anyone can share their experiences on their first job search it would be a lot of help. thanks. |

I agree that Internships are very important in order to get a job in the advertising field. Personally, I have 2 under my belt and my first one was my senior year in High School. Networking yourself through job fairs and career fairs that come to your school is very important as well. These two things combined were what landed me my current job at an advertising agency. A contact I made at a career fair turned out to know my boss at an internship that I held the semester before. Together, they gave recommendations to a third mutual contact who gave me the job! I definitely saw that who you know is a big part of the advertising agency. So make yourself as accessible as you can. Work through any contacts that you may have whether it's a professor or a professional in the industry. Good luck!
