In Reply To: I can certainly sympathize with your struggle. I can't offer you any new advice, since it looks like you've done all you can to enhance your credentials. I can give you a little more information about public vs. private. Oh, and read anything by Steven Meister ?? he wrote some great books about the public accounting industry. Unfortunately, the road from public to private is a one-way street. It is near impossible to move into public if you've never had any experience in it. And even if you started Big 4 and went private, good luck trying to get back. The model for hiring in public has always been Up or Out, which means you start at the bottom as a recent grad and either get promoted, or you get 'out' ?? you get fired, or you get made to feel that you should resign. Very ugly. For this reason, lateral hires are a tough sell to the partnership because they often feel that you can??t teach an old dog new tricks. There??s a cultural clash associated with bringing someone into Club Public, even from one firm to another. Sad but true, it??s a very exclusive clique and people are quite snobbish about it. If you're willing to compromise on your Big 4 goals, you could always try a local public firm.
Message: Is that the right spelling? Amazon.com can't find anything for this author. Can you please give me ISBN or the name of the book? Thanks
