In Reply To: First of all, DON'T GIVE UP! Try to suppress your stress, remember you're not ALONE on this crappy job market and the competition is really fierce. Remember that the economy is in really bad shape in America now. Congratulations on passing CPA exam, and CMA exam too. First one is really tough, trust me I know.:) I'm not sure what background you have IT or something else? Anyways, do the following: 1. Apply to your local CPA society and work via this organization, ask all of them for career advice, bombard all of them with career advice requests. 2. KEEP FIGHTING You will have to start out as an entry level accountant, that's the rule. Unfortunately, the passage of CPA and CMA exams doesn't guarantee immediate employment in the public accounting industry. You may want to start out in the small CPA firm first, THEN jump higher. But how about Canada? You don't want to work there? Anyways, be concentrated and keep fighting/applying, the economy is down, so be patient. Try to network as much as possible. Hope this helps. :)
Message: Hello Ex desperate, Thank you for nice words and encouragement. It does help! I am thinking finally someone understand me. Yes you got it. I have very strong IT background. I am living in Canada right now. It is hard to involve in local CPA society for me. I would like to get some international exposure, particularly in USA. After all, CPA have the greatest recognition in the world. As for employment in Canada, first of all, our economy heavily relies on your ecnomy. If you are in bad shape, we caught cold. I don't think it is better here in terms of employment opportunities. And we have fewer population than you. It is great to know you are CMA as well. can you share your experience with me? can you email me? Thank you again for encouragement.
