In Reply To: A career in accounting is something im considering. But do i need to major in accounting to land a Big 5 job? Im more interested in majoring in economics, but will that screw me over?? What about a finance major, would that be better than econ come job hunting time?
Message: From the research i have carried out and through friends and acquaintances in the industry, it is clear to me that you don't need to have a major in accounting - just a good degree which shows a level of intelligence. (i.e no mickey mouse p.e degree, not worth the paper it'e written on - acc. firms will laugh at you) Do your economics, my friend did that at sheffield and has being head hunted for PWC) It turned out he left after 1 month because he couldn't stand the tossers that worked there - top 5 isn't the answer to everything (building up contacts and having a non PWC personality will get you alot further) RUPERT DRANSFIELD - SHEFFIELD ANYONE ANYTHING TO SAY?
