In Reply To: I was just wondering what forensic accounting entails exactly and if law firms give internships to college kids in this area? Thanks.
Message: I work in this area at a midsize CPA firm in Orange County, California. This involves investigating a company's books to look for irregularites usually per an attorney. Often a business will be purchased and later the acquiror will not be able to replicate the previous operating results. This leads to a lawsuit and an investigation of the representations made by the seller at the time of the sale. There really is much more than this, but it could fill a book. Some advice is to get some standard accounting/auditing experience before you move into this field. It is not helpfull to be learning accounting/auditing while you are trying to discover problems in someone's books. MKF
