In Reply To: Do you honestly think the government does not know how Andersen's information is stored? Not only has Andersen the first to tell the government some information was destroyed/erased, but they have been working with the govt to find/uncover where server backups and other copies might exist to assit the investigation. Thus, I'm sure everyone appreciates your information, but I would assume the first step the govt took was to gain a detailed understanding of our information storage process. I am currently, and will continue to be, a current employee at Andersen.
Message: I'm with another Big 5, but beagn my career with AA. This is all very sad to me - the worst part being that Andersen is being held more responsible than Enron's management for this debacle. Obviously, none of the pious talking heads have EVER seen an audit opinion which clearly states "These financial statements are the responsibility of MANAGEMENT and...an audit is a review of a small portion of the financial results". I'm sure there is a wealth of documentation as to the accounting treatment of the partnerships at Enron and why AA was okay with it - there is no way any Big 5 firm would flagrantly violate the law like that. It just wouldn't happen. You keep your head up, AndersenCPA.
