True, $50K salary for Manhattan does suck, BUT - thank God that you're not a worthless theater graduate "waiting for his big break on Broadway". This individual will be waiting tables at the restaurants that you and your fellow auditors frequent. |

does NOT suck; 50k for the Emir of Kuwait sucks; you can leave very comfortably on 50k; are you planning on a duplex apartment, a BMW, weekending in the Hamptons, eating out every night - then you have a problem. Trust me on this one - if you've been in the workforce for ten minutes, or two years, and you think starting at 50K sucks then you obviously have no experience in job hunting/salaries; Another clue - you probably would be smarter living in a borough outside of Manhattan, eating in most of the time, and generally watching your dough, but you'll still be doing quite well for someone just starting out. Ask your parents what they think of a kid making 50K a year starting out is? You may have been unusually wealthy growing up, so this won't impress your parents, bu 80% of Americans currently make less than 70K in a year, so odds are it will.
