I am a 39-year old who took the CPA exam two years ago and am two years from a Master's in Accounting. I may apply to work for the IRS this spring. Is this a good career move?
Other posts have said state tax agencies don't look good on resumes. Does that apply to IRS experience?
Am I correct in assuming IRS experience would be good if I became a tax advisor? How valuable is the training?
Would any of it apply to other accounting jobs such as a controller or becoming a CFO?
How long do people normally work for the IRS before leaving for private sector jobs?
I would appreciate any comments.
