In Reply To: I got offers from PACE univ., Baruch College (CUNY) and Binghamton Univ. (SUNY), for Master of Acct program. Which one should I choose - regardless of financial reason, only for reputation and career? I want to get CPA and work in a big 5 acct firm after graduation. Thanks a lot for help!!!
Message: At the end of the day all you should care about is getting a big 5 job. After your in at a big 5 you have a clean slate. Schools don't matter that much in accounting (except where it comes to GETTING the job). Ask the people at the colleges the percentage placement they have in big 5 firms. Look at recruiting events they have scheduled. At the end of the day, most of the stuff you learn you won't really being applying until you're a manager anyway, and by the time that happens it will have changed a bunch. Ask your undergrad professors too (assuming you have an accounting undergrad) they know that stuff. But here's something to remember...graduate accounting degrees do not work the same as MBA's and law degrees. Brand name doesn't matter nearly as much. If you are a top performing student with a master's degree you'll get a big 5 job regardless.
