In Reply To: I am a 3L with a 2.3 GPA going to a mediocre second-tier school. I am EXTREMELY bored with law school. I have not found any courses to be interesting to me. The whole law experience has been disappointing and frustrating and has made me realize that it's not for me. I know that it's prestigious and you make a lot of money in the field but it's not something that my heart is in. I have only continued in it because I don't want to leave things have done. I have recently taken several career aptitude tests to see in what areas I am in strong in and they all seem to point towards accounting. My questions are: Is it really feasible for me to actually graduate from law school and then get into accounting? My bachelors' degree is in Psychology so would I have to go back and get an undergrad degree in accounting to later become certified as a CPA? This seems like I would be taking a step backwards. How could I explain myself to potential employers about why I went from law to accounting? Is this idea completely unheard of?!? Will I be just as miserable in the accounting field as I would be in the law field? How is the employment and pay situation with accouting? Anyone out there with some insight or perhaps in my same situation? What is the best approach for someone in my situation? Thank you to all those who respond.
Message: I am an attorney (graduated from second tier school) who is beginning my Masters in Business Taxationn in May from a top 10 graduate accounting school. I am interested in the background I will get through the program and believe that this will fill some of the holes that law school leaves in the area of corporate and securities law. With this degree, however, what are the available opportunities at a Big 5?
