The only advice I could give is to keep trying. In the mean time, work on selling yourself. Keep your GPA off the resume unless its asked for. Since its been 5 years, I'm surprised anyone asks for it. Try and play up your previous job to tailor it to what the prospective job entails. Don't say you didn't like payroll; say you're looking for something that utilizes the skills you sharpened as a payroll clerk, but you are looking for more of a challenge. Try and work in some crap about leadership during the interveiw. Avoid the recruiters if possible. You may try a financial staffing company. They have a lot temp to permanent job slots.
Just remember that there is a big difference between strongly selling yourself and lying. |

dont have my GPA on my resume, but every public accounting company i have seen a job for has a GPA requirement listed with the job description. thanks for the tips, the recruiters aren't doing much for me thus far. i'll try googling some financial staffing companies and see what turns up.
