In Reply To: Questions: 1) Do you have an accounting degree? 2) Is there anything that you are trying to avoid in a job (i.e. limited work week, limited travel, etc.)? 3) Do you have any work experience outside of that mentioned in your post? Comment: You're exactly correct regarding the recruiters. With VERY FEW exceptions, these folks are looking to place people in the same position they already have (just at a different company). Like most people who work on commission, they look for the fast, easy sell. Keep in mind, they're NOT working for you. They're working for the company that will be paying them upon finding a new employee.
Message: i have what was termed a degree in business administration with the accounting option, i think it has something to do with either my GPA (i only graduated with a 2.6, worked full time and went to school full time)...or it could be that WA changed the # hrs needed to sit for the CPA exam from 120 to 150 my junior year. at that time, the accounting degree was split into 2 different options. the old option was more Bus Law heavy, the new program was more econ heavy. anyway, that payroll job was my 1st accounting job. there's not anything i'm really ruling out other than another payroll position, which i did not like at all. it got old pretty quick getting yelled at because employees and managers couldn't fill out simple paperwork correctly :) the other issue, dont know if i mentioned already, is that there was a lapse of about 5 years between graduating and this last job, so i'm a little rusty on some things. i'm not gettin frustrated quite yet, but it seems like every time i apply for a job i end up dealing with a recruiter. i understand that given my grades and limited experience i cant be too picky, but i imagine there's got to be something out there that i would enjoy that i qualify for.
