In Reply To: I am currently still in school and have been interviewing with some of the Big 4 firms but unfortunately have not received any offers to date. It looks like I will probably end up at a midsize firm. I was wondering how it would look on my resume-clearly not coming from the Big 4 mold and how this might affect me later on if/when I want to transition into private industry. Specifically, the midsize firms I am looking at at this point are Weiser, McGladrey & Pullen, Amper, and JH Cohn. Can anyone tell me about your experiences at these firms, (at the associate level) and how I can possibly sell myself if I don't have the Big 4 experience on my resume? Thanks for your help.
Message: What I'm trying to ask is whether I can get a job as a Director, Controller, CFO one day without Big 4 experience. Based on others' postings, I presume that the most important things to get are 1) Big 4 experience 2) CPA License I am planning on enrolling in Becker and taking the first parts of the CPA when I graduate (May 2008) However, is there anything I can do to market/sell myself without Big 4 experience? To rephrase the question, is Big 4 the only track to having a successful career in accounting, assuming one only has the minimum of CPA + midsize experience? Sorry for the long post. Any and all responses greatly appreciated!
