NY city; not much work experience in accounting. I would like to travel 10-15%.

Being in NYC, travel may not be that heavy in audit. In smaller markets, the audit teams typically travel 25% to 75% of the time. Tax typically travels very little.
However, you definitely need to look at your long-term career options. If you go the tax route, that will limit your future career options more than audit (aferall, tax deals with the tax law, not with traditional accounting). You will see former audit folks as accounting mgrs, treasurers, and CFOs of companies. Seldom will you see former tax people in these roles.
I always recommend audit for new and recent graduates because of the broader experience (unless career goals or family commitments are in conflict).
With that said, if you love tax, then choose tax. If not, then I would recommend audit. Overall, both firms are viewed fairly equally in regard to prestige and training (at least by outsiders).
