I got my Bachelors when I was 42. None of the big 4 or larger firms were interested, but one small firm gave me a chance. Now I have 2 years experience, and recruiters are still calling me for job opportunities. Please don't give up if you truly like accounting. My perserverence paid off. You have a much better background than I do. My previous job was engineering technician. Once you get your foot through the door, your hard work and dedication will pay off. Then, when you get a couple of years experience you'll be more marketable. Keep in touch. I'll be waiting to hear how you're doing. |

I am 35 and will finish my
associates degree in accounting in the summr of next year. I have had 2 years working in accounting 1st year as a temp for an automotive corporation, and currently working at a bank corporation. I seem to have a
hard time getting a regular
full time job at an accounting firm. I also am having a hard time deciding between working as an auditor or even what type of accounting I want to pursue.
