Take one or two acct. courses and finance from the targeted Big4 school, degree or not.
IMO, do not worry about the CFA right now. That will not help you much unless you're applying to Equity Research type positions, in which case it probably won't help anyway since you don't have exp.
Get some experience in accounting. If you don't like it, then you'll at least have some exp. and have done enough coursework that you can use for the CFA later. If you do like it, continue with the acct. courses and work towards the CPA. Continue trying to "network" into the Big4 if this is your desired employer. |

Say I took accounting I and II classes, what sort of accounting jobs can I do right away with just basic accounting knowledge and without a CPA? I mean jobs with good growth potential and allow me to put food on the table while I'm working on getting that CPA.
