In Reply To: I was not degree-seeking when I took the accounting courses. Yes, it may put off employers, but my objective was to get into a graduate program, which required me to have certain accounting pre-requisites. It totally paid off at the end of the road. What I was doing was a "degree certificate program," and my resume' clearly states that, my GPA, and the fact that I transferred to an MBA program. To compensate, I made sure that my CV showed, word for word, every relevant class that I had taken up to that point. Despite this, I did receive internship offers from local firms before entering the MBA. As I said, take a few classes and see whether you like it. If you jump into it full throttle, you may end up burning out. You need lots of patience and dedication if you want to pursue this route. It will not happen in a year (or even two). MAKE SURE YOUR SCHOOL HAS CONTACTS WITH THE BIG FOUR, BETA ALPHA PSI, AND A STRONG RECRUITMENT BASE. DO NOT ATTEND A SCHOOL WHERE THE ACCOUNTING FIRMS DO NOT RECRUIT.
Message: Not sure what you mean since you said you were non degree seeking. Can you elaborate on that? Do you mean Post-Baccalaureate certificate in accounting program?
