In Reply To: I am an accounting student with good grades (3.65), two accounting related experience under my belt; one being a tax intern. I am doing my MS in accounting right now to satisfy the 150 hours requirement and I am determined to get into the big4 after I graduate. However, my achilles heel is my communication skills suck. I have one year before I graduate. What are some of the quickest and most effective ways to improve my communication skills between now and my graducation. Any input is appreciated.
Message: there are people out there practicing their communication skills? my advice is relax and make some more friends. as an auditor you will be dealing with people on a constant and often unpleasant basis - its valuable to have an easy going personality, have thick skin, and start up a conversation with anyone. the only way i know how to develop these 'skills' is to make some friends and go grab a beer with them. they will hire you as long as you come off as a guy they wouldn't mind having lunch with.
