I have an offer for a position with Ernst Young in Information systems auditing in Southern California.
I also have an offer from Moss Adams in Central Oregon.
The dilemma is that I do not like living in Southern Cali as the housing is out of control and I have big dogs! Also, I cannot buy anything even with an offer in the mid 50's.
Moss Adams in Oregon offers a beautiful place with affordable housing even with a salary in the low 40's. The experience there will be on rotation with audit and tax.
Question: Is it worth it to stay in Southern California for the big four name on my resume?
Also, is the experience in information auditing as good as the experience I would gain from a tax/audit traditional accounting experience?
An objective opinion would help a lot. |

Ok...
I would suggest make the choice for your life. I have been with big 4 and midsize. I suggest if oyu want to live in Oregon, go to Moss. After some time you can go to Big 4 in Oregon. I went Big 4 - regional - back to Big 4. My first time in the Big 4 I noticed a lot of the great accountants cam from the midsize arena.
Go to Moss then transfer to Big 4 if you want later on. the big 4 is great exposure and it also depends on what you want out of your career. Do you want to go to a Fortune 500 and have a routine monthly job or go to a midsize company and run a business.
Moss will help you with the later, rather then the former.
