When I say I wound up in Assurance, I meant what's more commonly used as an umbrella term for the audit half of a firm that is *primarily* audit-and-tax. Financial statement assurance -- issuing opinions. This is as opposed to QA which could cover things like systems QA, BPR, etc... more consultatory engagements.
My background's a bit eclectic, but the most substantial portion of it was as a long-term contractor in system administration/analysis with some programming on the side.
At this point, I'm forging a career as "an accountant with IT skills" rather than "an ex-IT who went into accounting" :) Small, but important distinction, IMO.
ERS I'm somewhat familiar with, and though I've *heard* of DQI, I never looked into it very far. What kind of elevator-speech description can you give, of how you perceive DQI's services? |

Thanks for the clarifications regarding assurance and QA. :)
I'm very interested in knowing why you decided to become an accountant, instead of continuing your career in IT.
My undersanding is that DQI provides technical services for the auditing arm. They write automation software to test financial statements.
