In Reply To: Hello, I recently graduated from a phys ed degree and am finding that there really isn't a lot of opportunities with this degree and am thinking of going back for either an after education degree or a business degree in accounting. Ideally I would like to become a CMA (i'm from Canada). I'm just sorta wondering though, I've always had the impression accountants do mostly taxes and boring work. The more I"m reading though the less this seems to be true. How do you like being an accountant and what are your roles and responsibilities? If you had to choose a career again, would you chose to go into accounting again? Thanks for your help! Shannon
Message: Way more to accounting than tax.. I spent a couple years in a small firm doing audit and I loved it. With small clients, even when you are the auditor, you provide other services and help clients build their companies. I have since moved to a bif 4 firm and I quickly found that I don't like doing the financial audit of public companies. I moved to information systems audit and consulting, but I also have a background in IT. So, being a CPA or CMA is more than just tax, particularly the CMA. So, with an masters in business and a CMA/CPA there are lots of opportunities.
