In Reply To: Hi, I'm a recent entrepreneur and seeking to hire a couple of candidates with accounting degrees that are very detailed and willing to learn the data gathering/entry process of a very specific accounting industry. Since I myself do not have an accounting degree, I was wondering if anyone could suggest what kind of accounting questions I could ask for an initial screen. Are there any guides with questions that would help gauge their accounting skills and how detailed they are?
Message: I would ask them alot of ethics questions to see what they bring out. You should have a fair indication of their detail orientation by how hard they think about a question. Take not of how they dress, are their shoes shined? Is their tie straight? Do they look pressed? My dad was notorious through the years for having his assistant have the interviewees fill out needless paperwork while he went out and scoped out their cars to see if they were tidy and neat.
