In Reply To: Generally, internal auditors can pursue a few different options. 1. They can become a controller at a field location after becoming an expert on the accounting process 2. They can become a Financial Analyst for the company. 3. They can go into other lines at the corporate office such as Tax.
Message: There are two types of interal auditing: 1) Financial 2) Operational The operational auditing function is less than 50% financial or sometimes even 0%, and takes more of a balanced scorecard approach toward performance measurement. Here's a path . . one of my friends who has been performing operational auditing has just been scouted out by a headhunter for an analyst position with a venture capital firm who is looking for people with solid operational knowledge of an industry.
