In Reply To: I'm doing an informal study on how getting a CPA fares vs. not getting a CPA. Are you substantially limited in your career choices? Are you limited, under the law, to what you can and can't practice? Do CPAs have more job opportunities? Finally, are there people out there--accountants are not--who are essentially doing the work of CPAs without having the accreditation? many thanks-- NA
Message: I believe you have to be a CPA to sign off on audits/attenstation. Otherwise, within public at least, it seems to limit how far you can advance. I think most expect Managers to have obtained the designation. Lots of industry/managerial accountants hold a CMA instead, too.
