Maybe maybe not. All depends on who's in charge of hiring. Personally, a friend of mine who's in his late 40s just got hired on new at a Big 4. I'll be 35 when I graduate, and I am not expecting to have issues with age.
How long has your prof been out of the biz? Not that he doesn't know what he's talking about, but I'd be curious as to how "up" is is on current hiring trends.
Also, Big4 aren't the only places to work, straight out of college, so don't limit yourself to just them. Apply everywhere you want to work, and go in with the assumption/attitude that age is irrelevant. |

I know several great people in their early 30s who have been hired into the Big 4. I also know several sorry people in their 30s who were not hired into the Big 4. See a trend?
