Short-term, the MA will prove advantegeous, but as someone already posted, it's the certification that the Big 4 are most concerned with.
If you have the CPA, long-term, the MBA will provide greater advantage, provided it's not the 'midnight-garage' school that grants it.
Look ahead 10-15 years. Will you still be in lower-end audit? If not, will you still be in the same career path you are today?
Very, very few keep to a narrow track for even 5 years, much less 10-15! As you migrate from one specialization to another, the MBA is more widely applicable and will carry you further.

Well, my problem is that I never did an internship while in college. I passed the CPA exam, but can't find employment with a CPA firm in the NYC area where I am located. I am thinking that a masters in accounting from a decent school will help me find an auditing position with a large accounting firm assuming my grades are excellent. It will also reduce the work experience requirement to one year. I want to be licensed as soon as possible. But an MBA might be a better investment because I don't plan on working in public accounting my entire career. However, I heard it is difficult to gain audit experience with an MBA.
