In Reply To: Is there any value to a Masters in accounting? Would it be a better investment to just get an MBA with an accounting concentration?
Message: Short-term, the MA will prove advantegeous, but as someone already posted, it's the certification that the Big 4 are most concerned with. If you have the CPA, long-term, the MBA will provide greater advantage, provided it's not the 'midnight-garage' school that grants it. Look ahead 10-15 years. Will you still be in lower-end audit? If not, will you still be in the same career path you are today? Very, very few keep to a narrow track for even 5 years, much less 10-15! As you migrate from one specialization to another, the MBA is more widely applicable and will carry you further.
