There is a serious lack of respect for the Services workforce within Accenture. Yes, Services does a lot of work for the company, but you will be treaded like a nobody. And if you ever interact with anyone from Consulting, they will assume you are an idiot who couldn't get a job anywhere else. I would never consider an offer to join Services. |

In general, the staff in "Services" are more experienced and have a stronger skillset than the younger, less experienced, kids in the IT "consulting" practice. Yet, they are treated by the IT "consulting" staff as 2nd class.
Unlike IT "consulting", people in "services" have to work without a net. They have to know what they are doing. The managers there are real managers, in the dictionary sense of the word. They don't have to depend on the step-by-step instruction book to tell them what to do in every situation and how to speak or walk. If the ACN intranet went down, and they can't get to the KX for some template or for some explanation of how a similar project was performed, they don't panic. They have the experience.
Yet, ironically, they are considered less experienced and looked down upon by their less experienced and less skilled counterparts over in IT "consulting." The good news is that, being more experienced and mature, they don't care what those kids over in IT "consulting" think.
Now, if they would only pay the services folks a little more money, that would square things up a bit.
