In Reply To: ...then why the heck do NUMEROUS line people reach internal to Services group for strong skill sets? Honestly, if your attitude is going to be like that, then it can go both ways. My Services/BPO group now do client facing work AND have the deep skill set that majority of the consultants are missing. I am sure some old time Partners , sorry, EXECUTIVES, think we are nothing, BUT when 40% of total ACN revenue is coming from Services just in a 4 year time frame, and growing faster than the line side, attitudes will eventually start to change from the top down.
Message: Hi IrishGrad - I am from Belfast, graduating, with Electronics Masters. Analog Devices is probably the best paying IC Design firm in Ireland, the training is excellent as is a super place to start for engineering. However, as I learnt in my industrial placement in Xilinx, Citywest - Engineering salaries saturate at about 45k after 5-6 years and the most after 20+ years in Engineering is about 60-70k (euros). In Ireland I lived with these absolute retards working in Bank Of Ireland and NTL credit control and they were earning far more than an engineer and I thought it was an injustice. They were baldy, sneering Dublin scangers. To be short it put me right off engineering and I decided to go into something a bit more lucrative: which for me I decided was Accenture, London, Consulting. For all the Americans out there: in the UK and Ireland Consulting pays more than Engineering at all levels. What are you aiming for in your career - if it is engineering then obviously Analog: you coudln't get a better offer - this is a very competitive place to get into! But - be advised once an engineer your CV is tarnished as "techie, industrialist". If you want into IT or Business cosulting go for it now! If leaving Ireland is not an issue why not have a second stab at recruitment and go for London Accenture? Starting salary is ??28.5k + ??10k sign on. That's just shy of 60k EUR in the first year! In terms of accepting something as an insurance offer: accept Limerick and then continue with your search. *I don't know too much about services*, but I think in Ireland it is like doing back office work for exel in Parkwest Industrial Estate. Hope you find a rewarding well paying job, so you can start driving an 06 reg car like the bald retarded credit control cunts about the place.
