In Reply To: Dress is important in consulting client interfacing. The appropriate outfit choice depends on the occasion. An interviewee expects to face many questions during an interview. A reasonable question would be ??If we asked you to wear business casual, what would you wear???. I think that a consulting firm is asking an interviewee to answer that question when it suggests showing up to the interview in business casual ?? but to answer it by example. As with any other question, Bazoo should try to nail it to the wall with one solid answer, instead of planning on using hedging tactics after an initial response.
Message: you are reading into the dress thing a little too much. Consulting companies, particularly when hiring experienced folks, are looking for qualified people to fill a job. Sometimes, I feel they will hire a man with a hairy butt wearing a thong with feathers hanging out if it fills a certain skillset need. At my ACN interview day, even though they said business casual, I didn't see one man without at least a jacket and tie (that's what I wore - not a suit). You simply cannot go wrong by over-dressing.
