In Reply To: Most of the project I've been on we got to choose. The project will set a budget and then you can more or less stay wherever you like as long as the room is around that price. Of course any project can mandate what they want, but most don't really care as long as you remain in the area of the budget. I've stayed at Marriots, Hiltons, Sheratons... whatever happened to be most convenient at the time. You most certainly can talk your way into status at the hotels. I've talked my way into status at Hilton, and I've had team members that talked their way into status at Marriot and Sheraton. Once you have status at one place, usually the other places will match as well (which makes switching hotel brands a little easier to palate). The only thing is that if you don't end up earning that status during the year, the hotel will be much less likely to give you status early again later on without you earning it.
Message: That's good info, treznor. What exactly is status at hotels ? I'm aware of miles, elite status, e.t.c. for arillines and rental cars. But, what exactly can hotels offer when you are a frequent guest of theirs besides free stays ? Also, when you're on a project for an extended period of time, does ACC use long term stays that you can use and reside and leave your stuff rather than checking out and in of hotels every weekend ? If so, how long is that typical project ?
