HR said I may join the Business Consulting workgroup (see previous message), more specifically the finance & performance management (F&PM) dept. That is different from the FSI you explained to me.
I know there are major differences between McK, BCG, Bain on one side and ACN, IBM, Deloitte on the other. But I was wondering whether a career in the F&PM would allow me to move on to a BCG kind of job later on.
Anyway, thank you for your response :-) |

F&PM. FSI. BSI. BC. HP. Call it whatever you want. I don't think you get it. It doesn't matter. When I read posts about what "HR said...", then that is bad news. Usually leads to disapointment.
The type of work we do is something technology related. (Requirements, Design, development, integration, testing, deployment, etc.) of some type of business software or business system. In your case, financial systems.
You can glamorize and make the unit sound cool and exciting, but this is the work. It is all about branding. Go onto a search engine and type in accenture and see the type of deals we make and what we do. Don't look at just the accenture website.
And to answer your last question...NO, a move into F&PM will not make it easy to a BCG type job. It seams like that is what you are hoping for, but it will not happen, without an advanced degree or a higer prestigious type school or a bit of luck.
Sorry, but this is reality. This is not what you want to hear, but better to hear it now, rather than later.
