Committment?!?!? |

I accepted an offer from Accenture in December, and am supposed to start working their in September.
Recently, however, I'm offered a dream job... I know that it is too late for me to change because accepting the Accenture offer represented a commitment. But others say if your heart is not in the job, it's better to be upfront about it before you start working than dragging for a year before leaving...
I'm really torn here. Is it better to honor my commitment, or take the dream job? |

A committment on whose part? Certainly not on the part of Accenture. They don't even know who you ar (nor do they care). You're just a name and email address on some spreadsheet on some HR person's laptop. When September comes around, they'll say "hmmm... who do we have in the pipeline for this month? and how many of them do we actually need?" Maybe 70% of them will get a start date. The rest (maybe you will be one) will see their start date pushed back to Nov or Dec.
I bet they also told you that you're going to get training, that you can live in the city of your choice, and that you won't travel more than 2 time zones away.
Believe me, take the job you want. Accenture does NOT, in anyway at all, see this offer they made as any kind of commitment.
