For advancement, does it make a difference if I'll be in the Services workforce at a Delivery Center? I do care about management prospects and I like adapting to different technical solutions. I hope I won't be starting in the wrong workforce.. |

Services is a position-based workforce, meaning you will come in at your level (let's say Level D) and officially, you'll stay there until someone in your chain of command leaves AND they decide to promote from within rather than find a new hire.
However, they also do promotions outside of this position-based model but it's not on a pre-established time frame like Consulting or Solutions. This might happen as a counteroffer (haven't witnessed this first hand) or maybe a recognition of a certain level of expertise. Your best shot at this path is being an Accenture employee at a Delivery Center. Career progression even at this pace will take at least twice as long than in Consulting, and at least 1.5 times as long as in Solutions.
I have not and don't think I would never see this happen to outsourced employees where they used to work for Employer A and "transitioned" to Accenture as part of an outsourcing deal.
The bottom line is that the Services workforce is not the place to build a long-term career if you don't fall into the description I mentioned above. Although if you are willing to face some degree of frustration and stagnation long enough to get a few years of solid experience with your given technology, you may find it powerful leverage to find something else later.
Don't expect to transfer out of Services, either. No matter how many well meaning manager types tell you they can make it happen, they can't. When you're done with Services, be prepared to make a clean break from Accenture.
