Weird Interview Questions |

I'm really confused by this hiring question:
Why do you want to relocate?
What is the best way to answer this question?
What if it was just your wish to move to a new location? What if you just want too?
Why does an inteviewer try to pry or gain information that is not there?
I had an interview just recently and they had asked, "Why do you want to relocate?" My answer: "I've lived in this area all my life, and I'm looking for an opportunity to live in a new city. I'm very interested in the opportunity in your city." Then the interviewers response, "But why here? Is there something wrong w/ where you are at?" My response, trying to keep the interview in an upbeat, "My goal is to relocate from the North to the South. One, I feel the cost of living will be lower & I'm interested in seeing more of the world....you know how taxes are in the north, eh?"
I mean, c'mon. Does this question even have to be asked? How would you all answer it? I mean, plain and simple, if someone wanted to live in a different location, different country, if they said it, in my opinion, that's just what they want to do.
What has been everyone elses experience? Have there been any other weird questions you've had in interviews?
